Description

Complete, balanced food for cats with diabetes, pancreatitis. Comprehensive nutritional support for cats with muscle loss (hyperthyroidism).

Description

  • In cats, insulin release is activated not by glucose, but by amino acids. Due to increased protein and low carbohydrates quantity This food reduces hyperglycemia in diabetic cats and reduces the risk of relapse during diabetic remission.
  • Exceptionally high content of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) from fish and fish oil. Diabetes is associated with increased levels of inflammatory mediators, decreased insulin sensitivity, and a weakened immune system. Omega-3 acids are needed for the production of mediators that act as natural anti-inflammatory processes, help strengthen the immune response, and increase insulin sensitivity.
  • Contains ß-1,3/1,6 glucans, which can bind to macrophages and activate the immune system, thereby supporting the immune response and regulating cytokine secretion and helping to control blood glucose levels.
  • Diabetes mellitus is associated with oxidative stress in the body, which contributes to the development of diabetic complications. The high content of antioxidants, such as vitamin A, E and fruit extracts , helps neutralize reactive oxygen species.
  • Contains fermentable fibers (FOS), which promotes the growth of good bacteria in the colon and intestinal function in diabetic cats.

Additional information

  • Increased fiber content promotes gradual breakdown of complex carbohydrates and reduces postprandial hyperglycemia.
  • Due to the high protein content SPECIFIC™ FEW-DM Endocrine Support is suitable for cats with muscle wasting. In cats with hyperthyroidism, the food helps maintain muscle mass and tone, lean body mass, and the low carbohydrate content helps with reduced insulin sensitivity.
  • High in omega-3 fatty acids Helps maintain normal triglyceride levels in diabetic cats.
  • Most diabetes management regimens suggest dividing the food intake into two meals. The timing of meals is usually determined by the individual patient's insulin activity.
  • It should be noted that diabetic cats receiving SPECIFIC™ FEW-DM Endocrine Support may experience reduced insulin requirements. Therefore, it is recommended to monitor blood glucose levels, water intake, observe clinical signs and adjust insulin dosage accordingly.
  • Being overweight or obese is a risk factor for diabetes, so it is important to maintain a healthy body weight and, in obese cats who already have diabetes, to lose weight.
  • If your cat has achieved diabetic remission, it is recommended to continue feeding SPECIFIC™ FEW-DM Endocrine Support to help prevent relapses.
