Description

Complete balanced food for dogs suffering from heart failure, hypertension, edema, chronic renal failure, liver failure (except for patients with cholestasis), urate, oxalate or cystine stones.

Description

  • SPECIFIC™ CKW Heart & Kidney Support contains exceptionally high levels of omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA from fish oil and krill . In dogs with heart disease, EPA maintains lean body mass, improves appetite, regulates arrhythmia, blood pressure and platelet aggregation. In dogs with kidney failure, omega-3 fatty acids help slow the progression of failure.
  • In congestive heart failure, sodium excretion decreases to compensate for the decreased cardiac output, resulting in sodium and fluid retention in the body. Reduced sodium intake helps break the vicious cycle of water retention (hypertension and edema). This is very important for patients with kidney, liver, and heart disease.
  • Limited phosphorus content essential for preventing hyperphosphatemia and slowing the progression of renal failure.
  • Reduced protein content combined with extremely with biologically valuable proteins reduces azotemia in dogs with renal failure. In dogs with liver failure, it reduces the likelihood of hyperammonemia and possible hepatic encephalopathy. Biologically valuable proteins provides the dog's body with a sufficient amount of essential amino acids.
  • Limited protein reduces the concentration of oxalates, cystines and urates in the urine. This, together with alkaline urine pH protects against the formation of calcium oxalate, cystine and urate crystal deposits in the urine. The content Potassium citrate reduces the risk of calcium oxalate deposits.
