• Silymarin is a mixture of three substances (silychristin, silydianin, and silybin) isolated from the seeds and roots of milk thistle (Silybum marianum). It protects the liver from toxins (including some drugs and heavy metals), activates protein synthesis, and promotes the regeneration of new liver cells to replace damaged cells.
• Milk thistle acts as an antioxidant (destroys free radicals) and has anti-inflammatory effects.
• L-ornithine-L-aspartate (LOLA) reduces ammonia levels in the blood, thereby promoting impaired urea and glutamine synthesis.
• S-adenosyl-methionine SAMe increases the amount of naturally occurring glutathione in the body.
• Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that protects liver cells from toxins and cell death. SAMe helps protect and maintain proper liver function.
• Dry artichoke extract contains three active ingredients: cynarin, luteolin, and chlorogenic acid, which are prebiotics and probiotics that aid digestion, act as antioxidants, and support the proper function of the liver and biliary system.
• Vitamin E (α-tocopherol) is a fat-soluble vitamin that may have many beneficial effects in patients with liver disease, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antifibrotic effects. Vitamin E acts as a cell membrane-bound antioxidant.
